Accident on Corridor 13

(Bangui, July 27, 2026 | LNC) During roadworks on Corridor 13—specifically the stretch connecting Bangui to Mbaïki in the southwest of the country—a serious traffic accident occurred overnight between Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, 2026. The crash took place in Samba, a locality situated 17 kilometers from Bangui, resulting in a heavy toll: seven deaths, including five children. The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on a section of the road currently undergoing repairs. While the specific circumstances remain to be established, this latest tragedy highlights the risks associated with traveling along this route. There is growing concern regarding a rise in accidents on this road, which has seen a sharp increase in motorcycle taxi traffic. In light of this situation, many are calling for stricter safety measures in the construction zones, including improved signage, increased monitoring of road users, and driver awareness campaigns. The goal is to prevent further tragedies on this route.
