(Bangui, August 13, 2026 | LNC) Today, August 13, marks the 66th anniversary of the Central African Republic's independence. Acting as a good neighbor—though sending the message from Switzerland, where he frequently resides—President Paul Biya of Cameroon sent a telegram to President Touadéra yesterday to convey his "warm and sincere congratulations." He also expressed wishes for harmony and progress for the Central African people, whom he described as a "brotherly people." Furthermore, he hailed the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations, underscoring a shared commitment to further strengthening these bonds against the backdrop of their historical and geographical proximity. He did not dampen the celebratory mood by mentioning the frequent border incidents; instead, the focus remained on celebrating the spirit of brotherhood.
