(Bangui, August 30, 2026 | LNC) – On August 27, a joint delegation comprising members of the Central African government and MINUSCA traveled to Bambouti, a town located near the border with South Sudan. The visit aimed to discuss strategic aspects of the Bambouti-Sibut road project with technical partners, as well as with delegations from Uganda and South Sudan. The mission also served to raise awareness among the local population, who welcomed the delegation with enthusiasm. Technical discussions focused primarily on the supply of drinking water, access to energy, and the logistics of transporting construction equipment. Williams Mbolimonguie, representing the joint venture consortium, outlined the immediate priorities: "We are here in Bambouti to plan the facilities, the drinking water supply, and the deployment of energy sources for the town. We also need to finalize the schedule for mobilizing machinery, fuel supply, and the actual start of work prior to the official launch." This major project aims to open up the region and connect it to the rest of the country. For the president of the Bambouti youth association, this infrastructure represents a turning point: "The youth thank the President of the Republic for directing this construction project, which begins here. It is an opportunity for us to turn the page on the past. Today, the entire youth community is mobilized for development and wishes to participate actively in the construction work." Meanwhile, Ambroise Soungouza, representing the delegations from Uganda and South Sudan, highlighted the expected economic impact: "It is a dream come true." "It is my hope that the Bambouti-Sibut road will serve as a source of lasting peace in the CAR and enable the country to rise among the continent's strong economies within five years." While local authorities welcome this initiative by the executive branch, it is worth noting that the project's funding and logistical support are provided entirely by MINUSCA as part of its efforts to improve connectivity and end the country's landlocked status.
