Distribution of birth certificates in Bossangoa & surrounds
By Marie Pierre COPPENS | LNC
(Bossangoa, 5 June 2026 – LNC) Thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralisation and Local Development (MATDDL), supported by CIVIPOL (CIVIPOL, a French international technical cooperation agency under the Ministry of the Interior), 15,000 children from the municipalities of Bossangoa, Korô M’poko and Soumbé received birth certificates between 10 and 30 May. And, of course, a ceremony was held on 29 May in Bossangoa to mark the distribution of the final 2,500 birth certificates. In attendance were the Governor of the Yadé region, WILIKON MBARTHA, who presided over the ceremony; alongside him were the Director-General of Decentralisation and Civil Status, Jean Symphorien NGAMA-PIAULT; the Sub-Prefect of Bossangoa, Jean-Claude BANDORE; the Mayor of Bossangoa, Pierre DENAMGUERE, the President of the High Court, Vital WATINO, the representative of the CIVIPOL Team Leader, Camille SINTAFU, as well as local authorities from Bossangoa. All delivered speeches for the occasion. This nationwide campaign enables the late registration of children currently in school or due to start school, thereby regularising their status. Thanks to this initiative, children will find it easier to access schooling, examinations, healthcare and other public services. It should be noted that the crises of 2012 and 2013 had a particularly severe impact on the town of Bossangoa, which explains this situation. Finally, it should be noted that this is a European project, funded by the European Commission, which aims to enhance the security and accessibility of the civil registration system in the Central African Republic.
