(Bangui, 3 May 2026 - LNC) “Enough is enough,” reads one of the placards. Indeed, around twenty employees of the Central African Republic’s Mutual Insurance Funds (CMCA) demonstrated on 21 April in Bangui, outside the institution’s headquarters, to denounce what they consider to be unfair dismissals and to criticise internal management which they believe is characterised by favouritism. Early in the morning, the demonstrators, placards in hand, protested vigorously. According to them, several employees had been dismissed without clear procedures or valid grounds, in violation of internal rules and, they claim, of current labour law. Furthermore, they speak of a deteriorating working atmosphere and a lack of transparency in decision-making. Recent recruitment practices have also come under scrutiny: the protesters denounce favouritism which, they claim, undermines internal cohesion and erodes staff confidence. “We are simply asking for the rules to be respected and for fair treatment of all employees,” said one participant, speaking on condition of anonymity. The event took place peacefully, under the watchful eye of a few police officers deployed as a precautionary measure. As for the CMCA management, there has been no immediate response. To be continued...
