Coup in Bangui?
By Annitah Beth de Lacan | FatimaLamineHebdo
(Bangui, June 3, 2026 – LNC) A rumor of a coup against Touadéra is currently shaking the regime. According to the very vague investigation, Sani Yalo, Minister of State and Special Advisor to the Head of State, considered for several years to be one of the most influential men in the regime, is among those accused. Currently, the judicial authorities have not made public the material evidence that could support the accusations. This caution, however, does not prevent the affair from sending shockwaves through the Central African political class, where rivalries and power struggles are regularly discussed. During the ongoing investigation, several observers are calling for a full investigation into this sensitive case, to prevent the accusations from being exploited for internal power struggles within the government. Surprisingly, this affair has emerged amidst a tense political climate surrounding governance and the consolidation of power by Touadéra, who has led the country since 2016.
