Accidental death of twin children
By Andrew FAULKNER | LAMINE MÉDIA
(Bangui, 6 June 2026 – LNC) On Wednesday 3 June 2026, in the Dedengué 5 neighbourhood, in the 4th arrondissement of Bangui, two 3-year-old twins, apparently suffering from malaria, are reported to have died following an anti-malaria injection administered by their paternal grandmother, who had been called by the mother. Unfortunately, there was an overdose and the children died. An investigation has taken place; however, no official conclusions have yet been made public by the relevant health or judicial authorities. This tragedy also raises the issue of self-medication and the administration of medical treatments outside approved healthcare facilities. Healthcare professionals regularly remind the public that injections and medicines must be administered by qualified staff in order to avoid any risk of serious complications.
