Election Review

Bangui, April 29, 2026 - LNC) Four months after the general elections of December 28, Central Africans were once again called to the polls, on April 26, 2026, for the second round of legislative, regional, and partial elections. Even though the process was peaceful, there was no popular enthusiasm. According to the ANE, the national electoral authority, approximately 1,240,000 voters, representing 51.7% of the electorate, participated in the elections. They took place in 19 of the country's 20 prefectures. Mathieu Seramelet, the in-house rapporteur, outlined the next steps: "The vote count took place at each polling station. At the data processing center, we began receiving the envelopes from each district, and then, each evening, we will publish the results, polling station by polling station." In these elections, the second round involved 46 constituencies, while partial elections were held in ten others.
