Elections in the Central African Republic
By Lingyun SUWAN | LNC
(Bangui, 26 April 2026 – LNC) It cannot be said that today’s elections are generating much enthusiasm; the situation is the same in Bangui as it is in the provinces. It is worth noting that in Bangui, in the 2nd constituency of the 6th district, where by-elections are being held following the death of the candidate, voter turnout is reported to be high at three polling stations: Kpéténé School, Fatima High School and Fatima Boys’ School. However, an altercation took place at Fatima High School between candidates who had come to vote; this prompted the intervention of the Internal Security Forces (FSI) and MINUSCA to restore calm swiftly. It should be noted that these elections are taking place under tight security, notably from MINUSCA.
