(Bombélé, June 20, 2026 – LNC) The little-known town of Bombélé, located 25 km from Bangui on the road to Damara, was the site where the NGO Welthungerhilfe WHH organized a seed distribution fair. This event was part of the Urgent Response to the Food Crisis (PRUCAC) project, aimed at supporting agricultural producers and contributing to improved food security in the Central African Republic. A total of 230 agricultural producers from the following localities—Guerengou 1, Guerengou Pont, Bombélé, Ndélébama, and Kpanakpoula—attended the fair. Each beneficiary received maize and peanut seeds for use during the current agricultural season. Clémentine Kisolo, one of the beneficiaries, said: “I thank The NGO WHH. Before, when we wanted to farm, we had to go to PK12 to buy small quantities of seeds. It wasn't easy for us. Today, thanks to WHH's support, we receive corn and peanut seeds. The NGO also gave us money to plow our fields. I was able to prepare my plot, and these seeds will allow us to farm this year.” Like her, many farmers also believe that this aid will allow them to resume or expand their agricultural activities. Some also hope to improve their household incomes thanks to future harvests. It's also important to take responsibility, as René Ribingui, one of the beneficiaries, says: “I ask farmers not to sell the seeds that have been distributed to them. These seeds were given to us to sow, not to be sold. We must use them in our fields to obtain good harvests. That's how our partners will be able to see the results of their support,” says Félix. Ouedraogo, head of the PRUCAC project at WHH, explains that this activity is part of a broader program to combat food insecurity in the country: “This is an emergency response project to the food crisis in the Central African Republic. The project is funded by the Central African government and the World Bank, under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. The objective is to enable producers to increase their production, improve household nutrition, and strengthen food security.” He specifies that the project has already reached several thousand producers across the country. After covering some thirty sub-prefectures during the previous campaign, the program plans to operate in 36 sub-prefectures this year. In the Bangui region, nine areas have already been selected for seed distribution. It should be noted that the beneficiaries were selected according to specific criteria. Among other things, they must have at least 1.5 hectares of arable land. Ultimately, for the producers of For Bombélé and the surrounding villages, this agricultural campaign represents a new opportunity to strengthen their farms and contribute to the food supply of their communities.
