(Bangui, 2 June 2026 – LNC) A handover ceremony took place between the outgoing Minister for the Environment, Thierry Kamach, and his successor, Silas Sémballa This came a week after Faustin Touadéra announced the new government on 21 May. The new Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development officially took office on Thursday 28 May. This handover was marked by a ceremony with the outgoing minister, Thierry Kamach. During the ceremony, the two ministers signed the official documents before taking a guided tour of the department’s offices and premises. On leaving, Thierry Kamach congratulated his successor and encouraged him, despite the challenges ahead, to fulfil his mission to the full. For his part, Silas Sémballa thanked the Central African authorities for the trust placed in him. He then thanked the outgoing minister: “Above all, I would like to ask him to continue supporting me. I come from the academic world, so, as you know, we have our own way of working. I have come here to learn.” Finally, he thanked all the staff and called on them to work together in harmony. “To put these key priorities into practice, I need everyone’s support, without exception. Just as they supported the outgoing minister, I hope they will support me.”
