By Lingyun SUWAN | LNC
(Bangui, 29 May 2026 – LNC) To facilitate the return of exiles, or returnees, and as part of the project entitled “Reducing tensions and strengthening social cohesion between returnees and host communities” (through access to identity documents, livelihoods and the transitional justice process), a capacity-building workshop on mediation and conflict resolution was held from 18 to 20 May 2026 for members of the Truth, Justice, Reparation and Reconciliation Commission (CVJRR) and the Special Criminal Court (CPS). This was funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) and jointly implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The aim of this training was to refresh and strengthen participants’ skills in mediation, conflict prevention and management, whilst incorporating the principles of transitional justice. Through this workshop, the organisers aim to promote peace, strengthen social cohesion and improve justice and reconciliation mechanisms within communities affected by crises.
