Children Abducted by LRA

(Bangui, July 29, 2026 | LNC) Let's set the scene: we are in the village of Konon, located approximately 15 kilometers from Nzako, which is 45 kilometers from Bakouma, all within the Mbomou region of southeastern Central African Republic. There, twelve children were abducted during the night of July 26-27, 2026, by suspected members of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). Specifically, the assailants reportedly stormed the village in the middle of the night, breaking down the doors of several houses before abducting 12 children. The attack triggered panic, prompting many residents to flee to neighboring villages for safety. Naturally, local communities have appealed to national authorities and humanitarian partners for help in finding the children. But so far, there has been no response. It's worth noting that this abduction comes just days after another attack reported in the same area. According to the latest OCHA report covering the period from July 15 to 21, 2026, armed men attacked the village of Tandjia, located 12 kilometers from Nzako, on the night of July 20-21. Around twenty people, including children, were abducted. Fifteen adults were released the following day, while six boys were taken to the village of Ndengui, near Chinko Consequently, the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) based in Nzako launched search operations. So far, these have yielded no results.
