(Bangui, 14 June 2026 – LNC) The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) is gradually withdrawing from the Central African Republic, handing over responsibility to the Central African Government, having already handed over seven bases on Wednesday 10 June, including the Lobaye base. The following bases were handed over: M’baïki, Bamingui, Dekoa, Dilapoko, Ippy, Kouango and Pombolo. In M’baïki, a handover ceremony was held, presided over by Prime Minister Félix Moloua in the presence of several members of the government and the head of MINUSCA. In her address, Valentine Rugwabiza highlighted the historic significance of this handover: “Passing the torch locally does not mean MINUSCA is leaving. Reconfiguration does not mean abandonment.” She clarified that the Mission will maintain a mobile and agile posture, continuing its mandate in areas where security challenges remain. The question that arises is: is the Central African Republic ready?
