Recruitment Drive for Internal ISF Forces in Bangui

(Bangui, July 19, 2026 | LNC) On Sunday in Bangui, the Minister of the Interior in charge of Public Security, Bienvenu Zokoué, launched a recruitment drive for the Internal Security Forces (ISF) to fill 500 positions; however, there were over 12,000 applicants. Specifically, 5,117 candidates are taking exams to join the Gendarmerie, while more than 6,000 are applying to the police force. The written exams are being held at seven centers across the capital, with physical fitness tests scheduled for July 21. It should be noted that—unsurprisingly—this initiative is not funded by the Ministry of the Interior, but rather by the UN via the UNDP, with logistical support from MINUSCA. In short, the Central Africans themselves didn't actually do anything! To put it bluntly, this recruitment drive had been anticipated since 2024, and the initiative originated with MINUSCA. It is expected that these future ISF officers will not be paid by the CAR government, but rather by the UNDP.
