(Mbaïki, July 16, 2026 | LNC) The Mbaïki Youth Center, located in the Lobaye region, has been renovated with funding from France. Specifically, the work included refurbishing the roof and upgrading various facilities and signage to improve the environment and operational capacity of this space dedicated to young people. On a broader scale, over the past two years, France has also supported initiatives promoting youth entrepreneurship in Mbaïki. This support has enabled many young entrepreneurs to strengthen their skills, expand their businesses, and take a significant step toward more formal and sustainable economic activity. Bruno Foucher, the French Ambassador to the Central African Republic, attended the youth center's reopening ceremony. He explained that the renovation fulfilled a commitment made during his first visit to Mbaïki. "When I first came to Mbaïki, I visited several institutions, including the high school, the hospital, and the Youth Center. It was during my visit to the latter that I realized the needs were greatest. I promised then that we would do something for the center. Now, that promise has been kept." Regarding the renovation work, he added: "These are modest improvements, but they will enable the Youth Center—a hub for gathering and exchange—to function more effectively in the future." However, the assistance extends beyond physical renovations; the partnership has also focused on training and mentoring young people in entrepreneurship. This initiative aims to boost their economic independence and foster the creation of income-generating activities. Finally, for the municipal authorities of Mbaïki, the rehabilitation of this infrastructure represents significant support for initiatives benefiting youth and local development.
