Strike at the ICA

(Bangui, June 24, 2026 | LNC) Do you know the Imprimerie Centrafricaine (ICA)? Well, for the past few days, its employees have been on strike, demanding something the country sorely lacks: the payment of... 30 months of salary arrears. No small matter! Carrying placards and determined to make their demands heard, the protesters are denouncing a situation that has become untenable after more than two years without pay. In response to the protests, the government stated that the matter is now being handled by Dauphin Royal, the company tasked with taking over and reviving ICA’s operations as part of a restructuring process initiated several months ago. The protesters believe that dismissing the managers is not enough; they insist that public authorities and the new operator must quickly honor the commitments made regarding the settlement of unpaid wages and the future of the staff. It is worth noting that other companies in the country are striking for the same reasons; working in the Central African Republic is a risky business, as there is a real chance you might never see a penny of your pay.
