(Bangui, 21 September 2026 | LNC) This morning, Bangui time, a handover ceremony took place between Inspector General 1st Class Bienvenu Zokoué, appointed Minister of the Interior and Public Security, and Comptroller General of Police Armel Baraba, now Director General of the National Police.

On Monday 21 September 2026, the National Police Headquarters hosted the handover ceremony between Inspector General (1st Class) Bienvenu Zokoué, appointed Minister of the Interior and Public Security, and Police Controller General Armel Baraba, now Director-General of the National Police.

Bienvenu Zokoué gave a speech for the occasion, thanking everyone.

In turn, the new Director-General, Police Controller-General Armel Baraba, followed suit, offering thanks to all present.

Armel Baraba, the Police Controller-General, drawing on seven years’ experience at the Central Office for the Suppression of Organised Crime (OCRB), will put this expertise at the service of the National Police.

It should be noted that, through its communications department, the National Police will extend its warmest congratulations to him and wish him every success in his new role.
